My love of reading and writing short stories started with a gift from an uncle: As a child I read Wind in the Willows over and over... Ratty and Toad were my best fictional friends. When I left school in 1955, becoming an author was the impossible dream of a fifteen-year-old. In the spring of 1955 I started work as a trainee insurance clerk... boring so I changed tack and joined the magical world of perfumery and fashion. However the need to jot down and explore ideas for short stories didn't go away, in fact, the urge was ever stronger. In my early fifties I enrolled in a writing course and within weeks had sold my first article and became a successful freelance writer. My CV includes international magazines and newspapers. When my husband retired we decided to leave Jersey Channel Islands, the Island of our birth and relocate to Brittany. Brittany is a magical mixture of Arthurian legend, oral history and tradition...a perfect setting and atmosphere for short story is also a place of many distractions. Walks along the Breast / Nantes Canal, boat trips on the lake at Taupon, retail therapy in Rennes, Paris or Saint Malo. Add to these distractions a large garden, six cats, home decor, experimenting with vegetarian ans vegan recipes, writing has been on the back burner for too long. I am currently re-working my book of short stories which I hope to publish as soon as...
