Sophie-Louise Hyde (The Student Wordsmith)
Both a creative entrepreneur and emerging poet, Sophie-Louise holds a BA in English and an MA in Creative Writing (both received from Loughborough University). She is now studying for her part-creative PhD, exploring techniques of verbatim in poetry, for which she was awarded a Glendonbrook Fellowship and expects to complete in 2016-17. Since first graduating in 2012, Sophie has founded an award-winning creative enterprise; The Student Wordsmith is an online creative writing and publishing platform, specifically aimed at a student and graduate audience. Following its launch in April 2013, The Student Wordsmith has hosted its first National writing competition, published two editions of its first anthology (now available on Amazon), and was named ‘Overall Winner of Graduate Enterprise’ at Loughborough University’s Enterprise Awards 2014. Her vested interest in contemporary poetry, including both radical and experimental genres, has given rise to a number of Sophie’s own poems being selected for publication. Most recently, Sophie’s poetry has been selected for publication in some rather original works. Her latest poem, ‘The Rebel’, was commissioned by new magbook, Petrie 66, for inclusion in their first issue on the theme of ‘Rejection’. The first issue was launched in October 2014 and can now be bought at Selfridges and the Tate Modern, London, as well as in stores across New York and Milan. Sophie has had a number of her creative works published, including eight to ten poems which were anonymously selected for inclusion in The Student Wordsmith’s You is for University (2014) anthology. These include: ‘Goodbye to Ice Cream’ (2013), ‘It’s a Knockout’ (2013) and ‘Lost to Man’ (2012). Sophie’s earlier work ‘Still, Credited to a Woman’ has been published in SAMPAD South Asian Art Network’s latest collection Inspired by my Museum (2014). It is her enthusiasm to encourage collaboration across the art forms that has been the inspiration for her latest and forthcoming venture. An online home to her numerous innovative projects and professional services, In2Collision is the place where corporate meets creative (launched in January 2015).
