How to upload your work....

Just log into your writer's account, select Submit My Work, and follow the simple steps.

Please note:

  • You cannot upload a story before you have registered as a writer
  • You do not need to have your work in the form of an e-book to upload it to the CUT site:
    • it should be in a basic Microsoft Word format (see below)
  • You cannot upload an e-book file which has already been created
  • Your work will be converted into a beautifully presented e-book once you have uploaded the components listed below

To upload a story you will need the following:

  • A CUT writer's account (provided automatically after you register)
  • The title of the work
  • A short outline for marketing purposes (see our useful blog about outlines)
    • a brief synopsis is ideal to attract prospective buyers,
    • and ideally a sample of the text
  • A word count - the number of words contained in the piece
  • The genre under which the work should be listed
    • this is prompted by a drop down list provided during the uploading process
  • Has the work been published before?
    • if so, where, when, and any copyright details
  • An image for the front cover of the e-book which the CUT team will assemble (see our useful blog about cover images)
    • this can be a photograph or drawing which best depicts or complements your story
      • in a standard gif, jpg, or png format
      • details of who owns copyright to the cover picture (if not you)
  • The text of the story in Microsoft Word format
    • Word versions: 2003, 2007, 2010, 2013, or
    • MS Word for the Mac 2011 or
    • rtf format (rich text format), TXT files
  • Selling price:
    • We will ask you to select a price at which your e-book should be sold
      • prompted by a drop-down list of price points
      • You can alter the price subsequently, depending on market demand and your own preference
  • Example of WFD revenue share:
    • You set a selling price of £1.49, which includes VAT
      • Less 20% VAT (25p) which CUT has to pay to HMRC = £1.24
      • Less PayPal charges (5% +5p) = £1.12
      • 50/50 WFD - CUT gets 56p; you get 56p
    • SO, every time one of your e-books sells for £1.49, you get 56p
