I am a full time freelance commercial writer. I create website copy, blogs, press releases, product descriptions, ads and anything else that can be squeezed into my working day. My articles and short fiction have appeared in magazines such as Countryman’s Weekly, Best Of British, Natural Health, Evergreen, Fiction Feast and many more. Over the years I've tried many ways of making a living. This one is by far the best.

When did you start writing?

1966 in Cleethorpes, Lincolnshire.

What do you love about short stories?

They are such a pure form. There's no hiding place. It's frightening, but exhilarating.

Do you write in other forms?

I've tried just about everything. Unless you give it a go, how can you know?

What distracts you from writing?

Nothing. I pride myself on my focus.

Outside of writing, what are your other passions?

Vintage comic books.

What is your favourite book?

Atlas Shrugged by Ayn Rand.

Who are your favourite writers?

Mervyn Peake, Robert E. Howard and Ayn Rand.

Where is your dream location?

An isolated Tiki Pop island. The kind that has never actually existed.

What one item would you put into Room 101?

Bad manners.

Do you have any advice for new writers?

Never give up. Believing in yourself and what you have to offer is half of the battle.
