The She-Lord and Her Tailor

A fairy tale for adults and older children, in which a tailor meets a very large cat, and tries to sell her some clothes.
Once upon a time, a long way off, but not as far as all that, there was a queendom ruled by cats. These cats were particularly large, magnificent, and beautiful. They did not know they were beautiful because no one had told them, and being modest, each thought she was the only ordinary moggie in the world; they hadn't invented mirrors.
These cats were matriarchal and although it was technically a queendom, and although they felt they ought to have a queen, the actual qualifications for queenship were lost in the mists of time; they didn't have history either.
What they did in practice was to take turns at being in charge, which was unusual because most cats really like bossing other cats about, and wouldn't normally give up the game once they had the power...
